Coming up at the end of the this week 7th/11th July Goth City Promotions present Leeds & West Yorkshire’s city wide multi venue event: Goth City 6. The Vampire Strikes Back
2022 see’s the festival grow & move to a new summer slot & will boast not just live music at 3 city wide venues but a whole range of stalls, spoken word & acoustic sessions, DJ’s & Club nights, discussion platforms & more. All in celebration of Leeds & it’s historic relationship & contributions to the Northern UK & indeed worldwide Goth/Post-Punk scene.
Featuring over 20 acts & with a rare & special UK appearance from the Gothtacular Icon of the 90’s scene, Caroline Blind; songwriter, guitarist & powerhouse pipes behind US Trip-Goth act Sunshine Blind – It promises to be a weekend to remember. Caroline who released her recent & acclaimed solo debut “The Spell Between” in 2020 will headline the Thursday ‘Night of the Dark Arts 6′ cabaret night. For the fans & music nerds among us the stage band will also feature Caroline’s long standing collaborator & friend – Leeds’ own Post-Punk & Proto Goth originator David “Wolfie” Wolfenden of the seminal Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. Might just get dressed up for this one.
The Friday see’s 2 BlackVelvetAudio favourites on the same billing at Left Bank. Rome Burns & Byronic Sex & Exile & the Saturday see’s 2 more in the shape of Rhombus & the Mighty Gothzilla on the same bill at Boom. And if that wasn’t enough excitement, on the Sunday there’s no rest for the wicked, as also on the same billing are Chaos Bleak followed by another of Leeds’ big hitting & historic contributions to the Goth/Alt scene The Rose of Avalanche headlining at Boom on the Sunday. Don’t know about you but that’s my weekend sorted.
Still a few tickets left so if a weekend of dark delights all for a great cause sounds like something you could sink your fangs into then head this way: http://www.gothcity.co.uk
All proceeds from Goth City Promotions events during the festival are donated to PAFRAS (Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers), a local charity for destitute refugees and asylum seekers. The festival has raised over £15,000 for PAFRAS to date.
